For my first assignment, I had to find 3 pictures online and correctly cite them, as well as write a short narrative about them.
Balloon Fiesta
This photo really caught my eye. When looking for photos of hot air balloons, I came across a website with plenty of options, but this photo really stuck with me. I love the focus on the front balloon, but it’s not the only thing to catch the viewer’s attention. This picture also shows the many other balloons participating in a hot air balloon festival. The colors are so vivid and the picture is so clear; it is a hard photo not to love.
I I love the simplicity and concentration of this photo. In my opinion, sea turtles are very intriguing creatures, starting with the mother’s laying of the eggs. The hatchlings then fight for survival as they make their way back to the ocean, and from there continue their life in the sea. This photo of the sea turtle is very intense. It feels as though the sea turtle was having a staring contest with the camera as this photo was taken. The minimalism of the lone turtle surrounded by water is very calming, and provides great color contrast. This photo is very impressive.
When I saw National Forest as an option for subject, the Sleeping Bear Dunes Lakeshore instantly came to mind. Leelanau County is one of my favorite places to visit, and we never go without visiting the dunes, no matter the season. Many people overlook the winter season when they think of the Sleeping Bear Dunes, but in my opinion, the dunes are at their most beautiful covered with a layer of fresh snow. With warm, calming colors, this photo captures the extended shoreline, the view from atop the dunes, and even the frigidness of a winter up north.
